    John,

let's take a deep breath and breathe!

    You just wrote this:

I watched this happen with Jimmy Swaggart and more recently with Ted Haggard. People love to find fault and mock and say, "I told you so."

Now I know I am not the brightest bulb in the room but what was that but what you are right now doing to these brothers? You are finding fault with them.

This just does not seem to be the Wisdom from above:

Jas 3:17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.
Jas 3:18 And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Here, let's touch this and do it so that we too can have follow our work in Christ "the God of Peace":::>

    Heb 12:15 See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no "root of bitterness" springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled;

Ok, let's see to it that this brother and sister, Todd and Shannon do not, do not, do not fail to obtain the grace of God!

I have been in ministry over 30 and travelled to many countries, 11 war zones, seen it all, experienced a lot and am still flaming for His Glory.

I recommend you heed Paul the Apostle and find a place with him here:

Php 4:9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me--practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

    Here's my prayer:

LORD JESUS, LET YOUR WILL BE DONE AND YOUR BLESSED KINGDOM OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, PEACE AND JOY COME IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY GHOST

TAKE THIS LEMON SITUATION AND SWEETEN IT SO THAT WE CAN ALL BE REFRESHED WITH HOLY GHOST FILLED LEMONADE.

    BRING PEACE TO TODD.
    BRING PEACE TO SHANNON.

BRING PEACE TO THE HEARTS OF ALL WHO ARE PERSONALLY GOING TO BE CHANGED BY THE OUTCOME OF THESE EVENTS.

WE HOLD TO THE PROMISES OF SCRIPTURE, PROMISES YOU HAVE FILLED OUR OWN HEARTS WITH BELIEVING.

NOW GOD OF HOPE, FILL US WITH JOY AND PEACE IN BELIEVING THAT WE WILL NOW RISE UP AND ABOUND IN HOPE IN THIS SITUATION IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY GHOST.

    AMEN

All I want to say is that Tood IS an anointed man of God and the fact that he is going through this means that satan was also not happy with what was happening in Lakeland and obviously satan attacked Todd where it mattered most. Now I'm not saying that we should look for the devil behind every bush BUT remember, the highest trees always catches the most wind. In the spirit realm the enemy was get slapped around and he retaliated.

Let's just pray for Todd. He is like any other brother in church that we must pray for and support so that God will restore what has been broken and carry him and his wife.

When Jesus moved in His earthly physical form among the people, healing and delivering them, there was praise and jubilation. When he was arrested and tried, the people wanted him punished, crucified. Todd is human with all of the weaknesses that are common to us all.Todd and Shonnah have been faithful in being obedient in the revival meetings, Both are bound to suffer fatigue and its in those moments of vunerability that the enemt knows where to shoot the arrow, and to exploit areas still needing the healing and deliverance of the Father. I pray that we will not be part of the crowds that call want to crucify

I guess everyone will continue to have their opinion whether good or bad about Todd Bentley. I myself have gotten in a lot of trouble in my church community because of him and supporting him against alot of opposition. Yet, I did not go to Florida to get some of what they were giving out. I continue to watch what he is doing and prayerfully consider it from the scriptures. Personally, I would not want to minister in his ways but I do admit to being encouraged by the miracles and healings that people were experiencing. I tend to feel that brokeness, humbleness and servant attitudes are what I feel Jesus displayed to those around him and want more of that. I didn't get close enough to Todd to see if he displayed these. I think some of what Todd has done is like what John the Baptist did in his day. Draw people towards a greater experience of God. I remember Todd saying that his whole goal was to have a deep and intimate relationship with God and to be known for that. I hope he has achieved that. Remember, John looked pretty ridiculous in his dress and diet too. I like the fact that people are encouraging prayer for them as they go through these hard times of soul searching and deciding whether they will do things God's way or their own. I know our prayers will help them to do the right thing.

I think it is very sad to see that Christian people sit back and judge others... Everyone has sinned and fallen short sometime in there life and we are all human. I do believe that the only one who has the right to Judge others is God himself!!! Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. I believe that this is the time to pray for him instead of kicking him while he is down. I am sure that is what Jesus would do

I watched todd on god tv for months, and he is a man of god. i have no grudge or judgement towards him at all because i have a lot to realate to him. My father has been the same way, too. Also i heard that they found ashes outside the tent, that were found of the prayer requests that he burned to pray over, which were gathered by people that cursed them and spoke evil to todd and everyone who was in the tent.

i dont know if you believe in the spiritual realm and supernatural christianity, but i do, and witchcraft is real, and can do as much as make a human being fall.

    dont bother replying

It is so refreshing to read your assessment of the very concerning situation with Todd Bentley. Your calm tone and careful consideration of the facts showed your love for God's Word and for His people. The sharp-tongued critics who are enjoying every drop of blood dripping from their fangs concerning this issue have no idea how truly transparent they are. I pray for them also. Thank you for taking the time to address this online for many others to read. I appreciate your attitude of standing firm on the Word of God, yet doing it with love and concern. Certainly we all are praying for the people less grounded in scripture who were hurt deeply by all of this (as well as for Todd and Shonnah and their children) because a terrible sin was committed so publically. Satan often looks for the one person who can take down the largest number of people and turn them away from God. However, Satan is not the Finisher in this....God is. We must all remember that God is our focus, not any man, not even Todd Bentley. People can disappoint, God never does. God was the one with the power....Todd was just he vessel. God doesn't have to do things that make sense to us...or use people that make sense to us. God is God and we are NOT. He does what He wants with whom He wants. Our call is to see everyone through God's eyes and God is not happy to see Todd take such a great fall. God is SO grieved over this, just as we should be. My heart aches for Todd and I pray that he realizes that he is NOT free to go off any have a life outside of God's direction for him. To sin is one thing, but to chose to keep sinning is quite another. He will find himself without protection from Satan if he continues to stray from God. I pray for God's mercy on Todd, and for all of us, as we daily seek to die to self. As true brothers & sisters to Todd, we need to ernestly be praying for Todd to get his life back in submission to God. But despite Todd's decisions in all of this, God is still King and He Reigns with Power....and He will continue to raise up men who will hear His call.....and Obey. Praise to Our Lord and King.

God is still God and he is going to send Revival to this lost world ,We are humans so we fall at times and we learn grace and mercy but God is real he does not play around when it comes down to Revival.
  • LadyofFe · 1 year ago
Excellent!!! I heartily agree with everything you have said. I have been much more dismayed by the people that have bashed Todd and the revival, then I have of Todd's behavior.

When you think of King David, usually the first thing you think of is, he had a man killed so he could take his wife, instead of all the wonderful things he did. Todd is after all flesh and blood. satan was on the attack before Todd ever stepped into the revival. I'm not saying he doesn't have a responsibility, but, satan has had 1000's of years of practice and he knows all the weak spots. He definitely went in for the kill.

I actually find it much more troubling how some Christians have handled the whole revival. From the very start right up until now. The bashing has been unrelenting, self righteous, I told you so, look at all his flaws, Saducess and Pharisees. Little to no love and more gossipy than anything else. So many used the excuse that they have to protect all of the ones who might fall prey to this unholy false revival. I can hear the gloating over all of this by some who slammed it from the start. And the gossip and rumors from other Christians about what Todd was doing, have already started.

We don't need to know all the details and we certainly don't need gossip coming from other Christians, that's disgusting. All we need to know is, he has a problem, he needs to repent, he needs counseling and he needs our prayers. God will take care of the rest.

I saw the Lakeland Revival on telly and eight days later I was there in Florida.

This is solely because of the anointing I saw on Todd Bentley.

This doesn't mean I accepted everything without question. Discernment is a moment to moment reality. The blessing and strength I received from my week at Lakeland is immeasurable, but even within that reality, there was and still is a constant discerning, balancing and weighing going on.

My overwhelming response to the news of Todd's separation is one of righteous anger. Given the size of the move of God initiated through Todd and his becoming such an incredibly visible target for the world and the devil and vulnerability to his own flesh, where are the intercessors ensuring his spiritual safety? The physical is only a reflection of the spiritual.

I have never seen anyone, who has modelled so powerfully, the contending for God's Kingdom. This has been Todd's gift to the Christian community. This also makes him an exceptional target, because when individual Christians begin to realise that they too can truly contend in the power of God - not because of Todd Bentley, he simply modelled it - the devil is on the run.

Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill the holes shot in Todd, through his inability to recognise/for ignoring his own needs and also that the Holy Spirit would remove all guilt from his wife for having natural, human needs.

Intercessors, please say a prayer for Todd and his wife, even if it only a small one. He needs this support.
  • Carrie Ann · 1 year ago
You know, it's true we all need to pray for Todd Bentley. But if you people who flocked to Lakeland could have read the handwriting on the wall, you'd already have been praying. Todd Bentley DOES have a demon tattoo on his leg, btw, & other occultic insignia. But aside from all that, he's been flirting with the occult by following his spirit guide, Emma O, which he was talking freely about at one time. When he got flack, he took down references to Emma O on his website, etc. Also, read the updates at FreshFire. He's had an indiscretion with a female staff member. And you're saying divorce is not option?? He's an adulter. An ex staff member revealed that he had an affair with a female staff member 2 years ago, too. Anyone who claims to hold a healing revival ought to at least open the WORD of GOD. But nah, all you get is BAM and a whole lotta shaking going on. This man needs help, spiritual counsel, and repentance. May the Lord restore him to wholeness.
  • John Burton · 1 year ago
Carrie Ann, be very careful. You have no evidence that Emma is a 'spirit guide'. There are many very thoughtful and respected believers who do believe it was an angel. The fact that we rarely have angelic encounters in the logic driven Western culture is the reason we are skeptical when one does appear.

We should be shocked and troubled that there aren't more angelic encounters. What's keeping us in this nation numb to the supernatural while other nations are exploding with moves of God and powerful visitations?

    Hi John,

I have a great scripture for you: Zechariah5:9 THey I looked up and there before me were two women, with the wind in their wings? They had wings like those of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between heaven and earth.

If that isn't a scripture that describes female angels, I don't know what is.

Well, I don't agree with everything said here, but I'm praying for Todd Bentley, his wife, and those precious children. Anyone can be restored who will repent and turn from idolatry. Todd was all wrapped up in himself...the revival was the Todd Bentley Show...and the people who really needed healing went home the same as they came. I've watched so many of his meetins and "revivals" and it's ridiculous how he parades people on that stage, only to kick them in the gut, etc. Jesus had no violent ministry to the sick. Todd comes across to many as a charlatan. The charismatics seem to have the least discernment in the body of Christ. I just can't believe it.

I've prayed that the truth would come out, and I think we've yet to hear the whole story. It saddens me. I'm not gloating. But pray? Yes, definitely pray!!
  • John Burton · 1 year ago
This response isn't a defense of Todd Bentley, but rather a caution regarding future moves of God. To make a statement that it was "the Todd Bentley show" is inappropriate. For someone to be flamboyant and demonstrative doesn't mean they are self-indulged. Might they be? Sure. But, we can't simply draw a final conclusion by using our eyes and ears only.

Spiritual things must be discerned spiritually. There will be many things that will happen in a move of God that will look and sound very unconventional- but will be very much God.

How is it that one Christian can watch a revival service and say, "Look at how crazy and strange and emotionally driven it is- it's inappropriate!"... and another Christian will watch the very same event and tremble under the presence of God?

To shut down or discredit a move of God because it looks or sounds contrary to what we are comfortable with will cause us to miss a large portion of what God will be doing in the end-times. The great revivals that are coming will give great opportunity for offense, for raised eyebrows, for uncomfortability, etc.

Of course, if something is strange and weird it isn't automatically God. But, we must discern it spiritually. Remember, in Acts 2 many marveled and many mocked at the exact same outpouring.

Now, did Todd's ministry result in fruit. Absolutely. Without any question whatsoever. I know a person myself who had two encounters in heaven and was healed while on stage in Lakeland of a life threatening disease.

    Anyway, there's my thoughts!

To the person that accused Todd of being an adulterer. Lets set a premise.

Mat 5:28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Now that we have that squared away. I STRONGLY URGE YOU TO BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR WORDS.
The following is cut directly from Fresh Fire Ministries web site.

We wish to acknowledge, however, that since our last statement from the Fresh Fire Board of Directors, we have discovered new information revealing that Todd Bentley has entered into an unhealthy relationship on an emotional level with a female member of his staff.

Lets really be careful on how we attack with words like adultrer.
There is a unhealthy relationship on an emotional level with a female.

Judge not lest YOU be judged with the same measure....

I am a broken person seeking the love of God and a deep relationship with Jesus. I am happy to be along side of any others who are broken and struggling through this life.
  • sukyaki · 1 year ago
My heart breaks to see the church tear herself apart. We don't need the enemy to do it. We do it to ourselves. No I don't agree with Todd, but we are not any better if we cannot offer grace, understanding and love. We are not the judge, God is. We don't have to condone the sin. Let's still love the person. Let's pray for Todd, his wife and their children, and that this would not bring even more division to an already much divided church.
  • Jacob · 1 year ago
I don't stand on either side of the aisle on this issue. Todd Bentley is not an isolated case, problems of this nature are all over the place in THE Church. So there is no place for pointing the finger other than right back at ourselves as a corporate body of Christ. We may want to separate ourselves from "Those people" but the truth is we as Christians are all part of The Church - the body of Christ, and everytime a high profile leader, pastor, healer, etc. falls it reflects on us all. The media loves it.

We don't need another revival. We need a reformation.

"To turn the hearts of the fathers to the hearts of the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers. " Malachi 4:6

The first thing that always runs through my mind when I hear about any high profile, great minister, evangelist, healer, worship leader, is...

I wonder what his wife and children would say about him.
I don't care what his congregation says about him!
I don't care what the critics say about him!
I don't even care what other leaders may say about him!
I want to know one thing.
Does his wife admire him and would his children say "My daddy is the greatest man in the world!"

God is reforming the church, and he loves us too much to not take us through this process of purification and restoration. I believe God is bringing true revival to the church, but I also believe before this will come to fruition, he must first bring reformation. This coming move of God won't be compared to any of the past moves. It is something on a scale we have never seen and may never see again. I believe the coming move of God is not just another revival but a preparation for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

With that said, I don't think God is going to let us as leaders get away with compromise in our lives anymore. He is raising up true fathers for a great harvest of souls and to be conduits of revival in this generation and the generations to come.

And if it's not working at home...it's not working in the pulpit or on the stage. In my opinion the mark of a true Man of God is not healings, not miracles, not sign and wonders, it is this: Receiving God's Agape Love, and giving it away - first to his own family, and then to his congregation and the body of Christ. When I take a look at the leaders in my life that I truly respect and want to follow and emulate, it is these qualities that always shine forth. Not their ministry or their gifts, but the love that they have for the Lord and their families.
    Great Fathers!

I think the best position to take in the Todd Bentley situation is to prayer for restoration and healing in his relationship with his wife and children, not label him "this" or "that" or point the finger. It's a trap easily to fall into when you're in the spotlight, over emphasizing on ministry and the enemy sneaks right in the back door and steals from the most important relationships of all - Intimacy with God and with the wife and children.

God is raising up fathers to be great leaders and shepherds for the great harvest to come. People that can be trusted with a great flock to lead them in the right direction. Who operate out of a sacrificial love like Jesus Christ himself. Who only do what they see the father do. And signs and wonders will follow them. And so will an army of young people, steadfast for the things on God's heart. It's not just another move of God, it is a reformation of the whole way we operate as "THE Church." It's a reformation of the heart, that will erupt into a massive movement, and it's already begun.

God is on the move, and he is reforming the church, in preparation for great revival.

As a christian (Calvary Chapel) I am not surprised by the recent Bentley escapades. But I am glad the NAR leaders went so far out on a limb publicly with their "Apostolistic Alignment Lunacy" concerning Todd Bentley. This event is a major blunder to say the least for these people who claim to have so much authority and connection to the Holy God. If they truly had the gift of prophecy why didn't they forsee such a catastrophy coming? If you had the hot-line to God as these people declare to have wouldn't this have been avoided? A careful reading of the "Alignment" is more like an "Indictment" of these false prophets. Carefully study these people and you will easily find many "Misses" in their prophetical portfolio's. A true berean should take note as "Misses" in the case of prophets add up to something according to the Holy Book. When are christians going to wake-up regarding all this widespread heresy? As long as people are gullible enough these false preachers/teachers/apostles/prophets will continue to plague us. Sound biblical doctrine and submissive/humble/obedient spirit-filled christian leaders are the right solution. But where are the everday common christians that are demanding such from their pastors and leaders. Where are the overseers? God certainly has long ago provided the answers for us as christians. If we took the time to purposely study the Word we would grow in knowledge and grace. Spiritual discernment won't be far behind when christians personally and individually understand God's Word and Will better. We only get there by personally taking part in growing or increasing our faith. Where we fellowship and learn is key to the process. Chose a church where false doctrine is taught and growth will be hindered or choked out. Choose wisely in regard to where and who and what doctrine you listen to. This is the "Our Part" of being a christian that God has made each one of us responsible for. We are going to find it hard to blame-shift in the day of judgment concerning our choice in religion/faith/church etc. We should do as our Lord directed "judge a tree by it's fruit", and no less should we evaluate closely the pastor or teacher we listen to and learn from. An examination of these "New Age Apostles" should alarm almost any christian immediately. The real Elijah didn't have a roadside stand selling trinkets to the people he was baptizing did he? A visit to some of these NAR "Apostles" websites will almost find an incredible array of "Store Items" biblically inspired of course? How and where do these live? Many are living a rather fine life-style no thanks to their ministries and related product sales. And most seriously we should consider their doctrine and how it conforms to the instruction of God's Holy Word. Again a berean will more than likely find many causes for alarm. These people have a truckload of words coined specially describing stuff that just isn't anywhere in the scripture. Gates, Portals, Alignment, Holy Laughter, Vertical Apostles, Horizontal Apostles...I could go on but I think it doesn't take much of this to make my point. This stuff is quite ridiculous and how intelligent people could buy into this quackery stuns me sometimes. Test the spirits and judge a tree to see if it produces "good fruit". Adultry, Drunkeness, or any sin that is habitual and un-restrained is bad fruit in my judgment. Someone who would choose to study at a church where doctrine or character are suspect does so to the detriment of their spiritual walk. In regard to these things we should all ask the holy spirit to guide us in our choices of churchs, pastors, and most importantly the doctrines that are promoted by them. I have peace and faith in my choice and I see good fruit as a result of sound doctrine that is taught in my church. I believe in the power of the Holy Spirit and that he will reveal all false prophets and teachers in these endtimes that we live in. I pray for public expostion of people that take advantage of their position of ministry to the detriment of the Body of Christ. Maybe then there can be hope for those that have mis-used their position to find true repentance and forgiveness as God desires for all....even the most wicked and greedy. Repent and turn your hearts toward God, and cast off the hellish doctrines of fleshly men and rebellious demons. Seek the true God while he can still be found. Time is running out, and this is especially true for the Wolves that seek to ravage the flock.

My heart is deeply saddended and cries in pain at the Church at the present time - how it is so judgemental, critical, condemning and its lack of love.

Since the beginning of the Lakeland Revival, Christians who should know better, have spoken against this move of God, firstly because they fear what they have not experienced, others out of jealousy, others out of pride as they cannot believe God could use a man with Todds background and appearance. Even during this time of difficulty for Todd the judgemental critical Christians show their true colours. In all things, WHERE IS THE LOVE OF CHRIST IN THE CHURCH? Maybe God has allowed this to happen (even though we all know it is the work of the devil amidst revival), to sift the Church, from those who trully have the wisdom of God to know the current position is not good, but whose hearts are broken and grieve for Todd and his Wife and family. I for one know the Holy Spirit cries for him - have any of you read the story of the Prodical son, who when he came to his senses, repented and was fully restored - is this not the kind of Church we should be - united we stand, divided we fall. Soften our hearts Lord, so that those who have fallen can be restored.

Check out Bentley's Japanese Kanji tattoo. The symbols translate thus: 'Guardian', 'big', 'huge', 'keeper of Hell'. Further, on his raised arm Bentley has a tattoo of Christ's dead face with a subliminal monkey etched into his beard. Above the tip of the beard, is a subliminal Oni which, for the uninitiated, is a Buddhist guardian devil of Hell. Hmmm, seems we have something of a theme happening here. Well, he must have had the tattoos before he was converted right? Nope!... Most of Bentley's squalid body art, including the ones mentioned, were etched 8 years after he claimed he was saved and while he was a 'minister'. The question then begs to be asked, "Why would a believer in Christ etch symbols into their flesh which clearly convey demonic messages?" Moreover, what does the Word of God have to say on the subject of tattoos and body piercings? See Lev. 19:28.

Depicted in this photo is the warrior Apollo, whose spiritual and symbolic significance is identical with that of the sun in mythology and alchemy. The spreading golden hairs which crown the god's head have the same meaning as the bow and arrow (sun rays). The Greek name for Apollo is Apollon, which means 'from the depths of the lion". Apollon was the great Olympian god of prophecy, oracles, healing, and the aversion of plague and general harm. He is also call Apollyon in scripture, or Hebrew "Abaddon" (Rev. 9:11) also identified as the king of the demonic "locusts" described in Rev. 9:3-10. The locust was a delivery method of this god, who poisoned his victims. Roman emperor Domitian, liked to be regarded as Apollo incarnate. Again we ask why would Bentley choose to embellish such a demonic entity on his body?

Ok, so Todd has violated some pretty basic commands and the Father does not honour disobedience which should give a clue as to his so-called anointing

Remember the bible says that in the end times there will be false signs and wonders. Ask for wisdom and God's truth and for the gift of discerning of spirits.
  • John Burton · 1 year ago
To blast someone based on that information alone is inappropriate. Have you had a discussion with Todd about the tattoos? Was Todd aware of the symbolism? Does he interpret it the same way as you do?

You are handling Lev 19:28 incorrectly. You must embrace grace my friend!! Love!
  • Stephanie · 1 year ago
    Thank you sir!
I am glad I am not the only one who objects to writing Todd Bentley's ministering off as demonic. Falling into sin does not make one a false prophet. It makes one a sinner, in need of repentance and restoration.

What is wrong with the christian world today. He tells us if our bro or sister falls pick them up and brush them off and pray daily for them that they might have forgiveness in their hearts and come to forgiveness ourselves for them. When we beat them down with our tongues it will take them a lot longet to come back up. What is the matter with you so called pastors you get on the web and run your unforgiveness hearts? You all need a trip to the altar for forgiveness yourself and get really saved. What a shame in the sight of god. I would not want to be in your shoes on judgement day because your false tongues will not get thru the gate, believe me. Get on your knees and pray for that family, they are not worth of going to hell over a fleshly thing that has been done, and who knows most of this junk is probably right from hell all these accusations you so called ministers are putting out. I know personally bro brannam was a true man of god. He prayed for my uncle 40 yrs ago and he is still healed. God don't use no junk in his service. All of you (GET SAVED) bUNCH OF HYPOCRITES!!!!!

I pray for 'Todd and his family., and was hurt and stunned by what has happened . I have been to some of Todd's meetings and God has used him to minister and heal me from much sorrow in my life. He is a man of God there is no question of that in my mind. There lays the point of this he is just a man. 'through all of this, I see the great need for myself to find intimacy with my Jesus and his word. I cannot deny there being a revival and Todd being used. As our leaders are saying the face of the church is changing, we are not to look to man but to God for revival . 'There are many God has hidden and groomed for the great harvest and it will not be one man it will be the bride of Christ rising up leaving the church walls and going into the highways and byways to bring those out of darkness into his light. I rejoice God will use the whole body of Christ and not just a select few. let us humblle ourselves pray for our brother and his family God's will be done , love one another.
